The day immediately following the end of the holy month of Ramadan is called Eid Fitr. In other words, it falls on the first day of Shawwal. It is one of the greatest Islamic festivals. Festival of the Sacrifice Eid-e-Qurban which is celebrated to commemorate Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son for God.

The popular way of greeting in South Asia during celebration of this festival is to say Eid Mubarak to others. Children are encouraged to greet the elders.
